"It’s a great day to have a great day."
This was Gregory Garcia’s mantra while battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Diagnosed on May 15, 2025, Greg faced the darkest of days with a spirit that inspired everyone around him. Today, we are overjoyed to share that Greg is in remission. While Greg has won his battle, he hasn’t forgotten the faces he saw in the hospital—those still fighting, and those facing terminal diagnoses. To celebrate his recovery and give back to the community that sustained him, we are launching a challenge to turn "great days" into lasting memories for others.
The Challenge: 12 Miles Across Lake Tahoe
On July 31, 2026, Greg’s friend and coworker, Jaime Brogdon, will take to the water. Moved by Greg’s resilience, Jaime is swimming 12 grueling miles across Lake Tahoe.
This isn't just a swim; it’s a mission. Our goal is to raise $1,000 for every mile Jaime completes.
Where the Money Goes
We are raising $12,000 for The Bucket List Project Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Their mission is simple but profound: “To continue this legacy of compassion and to never have to deny an end-of-life wish request.”
Greg knows firsthand how precious time is. By supporting this swim, you are helping:
• Grant final wishes for adults with life-limiting illnesses.
• Provide "bright memories" for families during their most difficult seasons.
• Spread the "Great Day" mentality to those who need it most.
How You Can Help
Every dollar counts toward our $12,000 goal. Whether you can sponsor an entire mile ($1,000) or simply contribute what you can, you are helping us honor Greg’s journey and the mission of The Bucket List Project.
1. Donate: Even $10 or $20 helps us reach the next mile marker.
2. Share: Post this link on social media and tell your friends about Jaime’s 12-mile swim!
3. Adopt the Mantra: Today, tell yourself, "It's a great day to have a great day."
Thank you for being part of Greg’s story and for helping us make wishes come true.
