Wheelchair van for the Gregorys!

This is the Gregory family- Colleen, Jaydn and Leon who live in Cairns Nth Qld. Colleen is my sister and both her boys have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). Leon is in a motorised chair and Jaydn will be soon. Check out more about what DMD means here .

Colleen runs a not for profit Cat Re-Homing business which rescues abandoned cats/kittens then working with her vet they are health checked, immunised, desexed and adoption ready. Even the local council bring her abandoned litters of kittens that often need hourly care. Have a look at her Cat Re-Homing facebook page here and her profile here .

This family has a very old van that is fitted with an electronic chair lift that they have been using as their only form of transport. Leon's new chair now does not fit in the van but they have been managing in various ways.

Last week the motor died on the van. The lovely people who look after the van have given it some band aid help to get it to limp around short distances but she will be lucky to get a couple of weeks out of that.

This family ask for nothing but continually give back to the community with the service they provide with Cat Re-Homing. Colleen has a military precision budgeting in place and on a pension this means there is nothing left over at any stage. But still they smile!

My ultimate goal would be to get to $22 000 to enable her to get a new problem free fitted out van to continue getting her family around AND keep doing what keeps her sane and happy with the cats, before the limping van finally gives up.  

Please help a lovely family to have the simple necessity of transport no matter how small the contribution is - it will be appreciated.
