Greg Hughes Medical Fund
This GoFundMe is for Greg Hughes and his daughter Deven. Greg has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome. He is intubated and in ICU fighting hard against this Syndrome. Deven has been left to take care of their house and pets while spending as much time as possible with her father. She is unable to work and needs assistance with bills, food and the oncoming medical bills.
The following was written by Greg's daughter Deven:
Twelve days ago my dad and I were laughing in his car about who was going to vacuum my car next. I told him, I wanted him to because he was so good at it. Less than eight days ago he was saying how his feet and arms were tingling and at times he barely could move. We went to the emergency room to find out what was going on. After many tests, doctors weren't sure what was going on but his symptoms continued to get worse. After being sent back home, my dad's strength only seemed to decrease. As the morning came, he could no longer walk and we had to call an ambulance because the pain was unbearable. The doctors then ordered a spinal tap for the testing of Guillain-Barré Syndrome . The tests came back positive and within a matter of hours we were getting treatment for this virus. As days went on my dad's condition immediately worsened. The treatment wasn't helping and by the 25th of August my dad was completely paralyzed from the waist down. By Saturday the disease had progressed to paralyzing him from the neck down. On Monday, he began coughing and had more and more trouble breathing. This became so much worse when his esophagus started to close and fluid was building in his lungs. He was rushed to ICU where he was put into a medically induced coma and has been placed on a ventilator.
As you can tell by all of these procedures, treatments and days of stay, the medical bills are quickly piling up and with it being only me, my dad and my grandma we cannot afford to pay for all the expenses. We just ask that you share this post and hope that anyone who sees it could help in any way or at least share the post for others to see. We thank everyone who has shared positive words and have kept my dad in their thoughts and prayers this past devastating week and a half.
After the tragic passing of Greg's oldest daughter in 2007, Greg and Deven have been each other's rocks. Greg has been both Mother and Father to Deven, painting her nails, braiding her hair and always giving her advice when she needed it. He is an amazing Father, and his Daughter still needs him. As he fights through this, bills will be on going for medical and therapy treatment. Please keep this family in your prayers and give if you can. Anything will help. Thank you.
