This is my dad Greg Gangemi.
My dad is one of the most dedicated and hard working people I know. 5 years ago we lost my 9 year old sister due to Cancer . Through all the heartache and hardship, my dad has consistently worked hard and tried his best to keep us afloat. He has helped me through 4 years of college, living away from home, and has always been there when I need him . Now it’s time for me to help my dad.
As a result of his Diabetes, he has been battling a severe and persistent foot infection. Although he has endured this disabling injury, I have watched my dad’s energy and humour dwindle, along with his health. Within the past couple of weeks of the new year, his condition has worsened to the point of needing to have a partial amputation. After 2 weeks in the hospital, he is facing a recovery process that can last up to year . This gofundme will provide assistance with bills and buy us the time he needs to fully recover from this surgery, and get his health under control. These funds will be helping with lost wages and costs of living while he recuperates.
This campaign could also potentially provide us with the means to get him a new prosthetic extremity down the road. My dad adores his job, and wakes up every day to give 1000% of himself to environmental hygiene efforts on Long Island. He would love to be able to return to work eventually, but needs to be mobile on his feet.
