Imagine being alone in a foreign country...being sick...needing medical care...and not having enough money to pay your hospital bill. I faced that last week. I took my life in my own hands last week because I was $400 short here in Phnom, Pehn, Cambodia. Here's the truth ~ I had enough money for the medicine, the ER visit and the testing they did. I was desperately sick, as in life and death sick. They wanted to keep me in the hospital overnight. I signed myself out AMA (Against Medical Advice), signed the waiver, finished the IV meds and went home, still unable to keep anything in my stomach. I was vomiting constantly for 18 hours.
I said my prayers and went to bed that night not knowing if I would wake up in the morning. I told my wife that I loved her and told her about the death benefit for her and the children if I passed on that night. And I'm OK with that. For 25 years, I have served God overseas and have been in harms way a number of times ~ but never like this. Not with two children in college. Not with a wife and three children to support.
Next week, I am $400 short for our rent because of this tragedy. It has been painfully expensive. If I am short of that $400, some very difficult choices are going to have to be made. I trust that somehow, God will provide.
I hope you never go through the pain that I have been through in these past 10 days. Dental work (a cap on a broken molar that needed to be done in a developing country), 4 emergency room visits, throwing up in the school van, not having enough money to pay my medical bills and much, much more. May God save you from that pain and trauma.
I am just a dad, teacher and servant of the Lord trying to keep a roof over the head of my family, put food on the table and be His hands and feet here in Cambodia. A guy will do whatever he has to do to provide for those that he loves. Could you help me please? I would rather give to you or help you than ask for anything from you. But for me, for my family, for the children of Cambodia, could you join me in a sense of shared sacrifice? I'm trying to raise $418 a month ( $5,020 for the entire year. ) for my medical and dental needs. Your prayers and any financial help you could spare would absolutely mean the world to me.
