Gregg Shively Medical Expenses

Our friend could use some help…

Those of you that know Gregg Shively, may or may not know that awhile back, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. They did the surgery, and all seemed to be well.  The old Gregg was back to feeling good and making music.

Just recently, Gregg went back for follow up and expected to hear all was good.  Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.  His tests revealed that cancer had returned, and doctors initiated another round of treatment.  Gregg is determined to beat this and is trying to keep his spirits up.

Most anyone who plays music in central Ohio and beyond knows Gregg Shively.  He’s played with nearly everyone, in a variety of genres.  He’s highly respected and well liked.  What many don’t realize (Gregg included), is just how talented he is.  He’s such a gracious guitarist, that in nearly every group he’s with, Gregg intentionally takes a back seat. What he plays, and where he plays it just makes everyone else sound better. Subsequently, Gregg doesn’t get much of the spotlight.  I’ve been playing with Gregg for a while now and have always respected his playing.  I didn’t realize the depth of his talent though until I started really listening closely to him. Gregg Shively is one of the most talented musicians I’ve ever played with and is one of the most creative artists in Central Ohio.

As a person, my biggest regret is that I didn’t meet him sooner. Gregg has become one of my best friends. I truly love the man and have tremendous respect and admiration for him. You cannot know Gregg, and not be a friend of his.  I’m blessed that I get to hang out and play music with him on a regular basis.

Knowing Gregg, he’s a private, hardworking, and proud person. He won’t ask for help, and he won’t say that he’s having a hard time dealing with this. He does need help though, in a couple of ways.  First, he needs to know just how much we all think of him.  He’s a valued and respected member of our musical community, and it’d help his spirits to know just how much we think of him.

Finally, he needs our help financially.  This treatment is costly, and like most musicians, Gregg is not a wealthy guy. Helping him financially will take some burden off his shoulders so he can focus on getting well.
