On May 16th my grandson, GREGORY DOMINGO, was going home from work, riding his new top of the line Harley.
Suddenly, the bike malfunctioned and Gregory ended hitting a concrete wall. One of his co-workers drove by and could see the bone protruding through his leg. Gregory saw his friend and held up two thumbs to encourage he was conscious.
As he was in Alameda County, he was taken to an Oakland Hospital. His wife, Karen, and his mother, Rose, quickly left Napa for Oakland.
However, when they got there, they were not allowed to enter the hospital because of Covid19 and for several hours stood by the doors and talked to the doctors on their cell phones.
The original report was that Greg’s heart was bruised and bleeding, a lung had collapsed and the other one was badly bruised, and he had several broken ribs. Plus he had both legs fractured.
The doctors’ first priority was to stop his heart from bleeding. They successfully inserted a stint. Of course, Greg was put in ICU where he could be observed constantly..
Ths following are postings on Facebook by Greg’s wife, Karen.
I am asking for these funds for Greg and his family as Greg has a very long road of recovery and in the meantime his bills of every day life continue to build. He pays about $2,400 for rent and over $700 for his truck plus electricity and food for the family. Gregory is an honest hard working young man who is very loving and caring. He is loved by everyone who meets him..
MAY 17
Greg was more coherent he was able to talk to his wife twice before he went back to sleep. The stent in his aorta to stop the bleeding seems to be workng. He came out okay but he is not out of the woods yet. They still need to do surgery on his leg and other fractures he has. He is grumpy cause he is hungry and can’t have any food or drink until after his leg surgery (those who know Greg know that is a good sign). He is staying positive. His heart is finally stable and he is finally getting some rest.
MAY 18
Gregory cannot talk much due to the pain from his broken ribs which causes his heart rate to spike and this causes the surgery for his legs to be postponed.

UPDATE: Greg is in surgery for his leg. We will not have any information until t later this evening. hanks everyone for your prayers. We will post any new updates as soon as we recTeive any.

POSTED BY WIFE KAREN: “Best call I have gotten all day! Nurse called saying your husband just got out of surgery and is waking up asking to talk to his beautiful wife or he won’t let her or anyone do anything until he can talk to me!” Melted my heart she said it is the sweetest thing she has heard her entire shift. I was able to talk to him and he said he is fine and he will be going to work tomorrow lol! Of course he is high from the drugs but wanted to call me to tell me he loves me and everyone else! I spoke with the nurse and he is stable I will be getting a call from the doctor with more information in a few hours! Thank u all for your prayers please continue to pray for him!

POSTED BY WIFE KAREN: Finally received update from the doctor! Greg Domingo did good with his leg surgery but still needs two more surgeries done. One surgery is for his subclavian artery. Since his heart rate is still not stable enough to be cleared, it may be open surgery or closed--we will know more tomorrow.
After that they have to wait for the swelling in his leg to go down in order to proceed with the second surgery that will require the screws in his leg. He will be there for a while that is for sure. Please continue to pray for him!

Update: Since Greg had to be intubated this morning and he was not happy or comfortable about it but he is highly induced getting rest. His surgery that was scheduled for today has been moved to Thursday. He will not be able to talk to us cause of the tubes. But I was able to leave him a message that we love him when he wakes up. I appreciate everyone's support and prayers. Please continue to pray for him. ❤❤

Hey guys so I know I have not done an update since yesterday but that is because everything remains the same. His surgery is still on for Thursday. So around midnight Greg Domingo’s doctor called me to inform me that his lungs have healed & they were able to take his second chest tube out so that is a good sign. Means he is healing the way he needs to. He will be going in for his second heart surgery this afternoon around 1pm. We ask that you pray for him for a successful surgery. Since it will be an open heart surgery! Doctor will call once he is back in his room to give us update but will most likely be 4 hours until we hear anything. He will remain intubated but they make sure to wake him up every day to make sure he is still coherent and test can be done that continue to all come out good.
Depending on how he does after that surgery they will let him rest 1 or 2 days before he goes in for his second leg surgery. After that they need to do an MRI to check if he will need a surgery on his hip bone or if it will heal on its own. Doctor said he is heading in all right directions and strong. So as long as he remains that way all should be good.
So many surgeries he will be facing I ask for anyone who can continue to pray for him to please keep him in your prayers! Thank you to those you have it means a lot to us!
I will make sure to update you all once we hear anything. Thank you everyone!
May 21 at 7:02 PM ·
FINALLY! The call that we were waiting for. Greg Domingo came out of his heart surgery well. THANK YOU GOD! He is in his room resting and they will slowly begin to remove him from the tubes! Of course he still needs his leg surgery but for now he is to rest and recover from his heart! Thank you all for all your prayers and continuous support! We will do our best to call family with updates & try to get some rest now that we can breath again!
Please continue to pray for him as he is still not out of the woods but is slowly recovering. ❤❤❤❤

As of now it will be a week before he goes in for his second leg surgery as he really needs to heal and recover from his heart at the moment. If anything changes they will make sure to call me with updates.
Thank you everyone for your support. We still ask that you keep him in your prayers & thank you for continuing to do so! ❤❤

So I just got off the phone with the surgeon for Greg Domingo. He will be going in first thing tomorrow morning at 8am for his sacrum surgery. We will be looking at 5hour surgery. We have been informed of some of the complications that may occur if something goes wrong, so of course we are worried but want to remain positive that everything will go right and he will not have to face any of those complications. He will lose a lot of blood but they have everything prepared for a successful surgery.
After his surgery if all vitals and him plus surgery look great they will proceed to the surgery on his tibia on his right leg. If that does happen it will be an 8 hour surgery day for him.
We ask that you pray for him today, tonight and tomorrow as well as his healing days, after surgery. This will be so hard for us as we try our best to stay positive and strong for him.
I know he will be okay and do okay he is my strong husband and does not give up easy I should know!
Please be patient with us tomorrow as we wait for updates to come from his doctors. For now this will be the last update I do until I hear anything back from the surgeon and doctors tomorrow!
Thank you all for ur support, love, and prayers. We truly appreciate it and everyone who has done so!

We were able to tell him to be patient and strong for us. Not to worry as we have everything under control at home cause I know him he stresses out to make sure his family has what we need. We told him we all love him sooo much and miss him so much! To focus on recovering so he can be home with us soon. Nurse said he nodded yes to everything we told him.

Greg's leg was a little infected so they could not proceed with the surgery today. Instead they made sure to clean his wound and re rod him to assure that it heals properly so they may be able to the surgery since they do not want to take the risk of having him get more infected to the point they can not heal it. I trust they know what they are doing and making sure he can recover properly.
Thank you all for your prayers! Thank you for those who continue to pray for him. ❤❤❤❤

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
Update: Greg was able to tolerate 4 hours on his own today with out help of the tube in his mouth. So they said that is a great progress. He still has it on as they are taking it day by day basis. He is healing slowly but surely. Today was a good day for him in regards to his tests. They will eventually do his sacrum and leg but they are making sure he is good on his end before they do.
After his surgery and slowly recovering he will be placed in a nursing home more and likely before he can come home. So of course not what we want but if it takes months before he can be with us so be it as long as he can remain in great care and has the tools he needs before coming back home to us. All who know Greg know he will do whatever it takes to be home ASAP lol!
Now I will not be doing anymore updates unless anything changes. Like the doctor said no update is good news means he remains resting and slowly recovering so please I know u want me to update u almost every day but if I do not post anything it means all is the same. Thank you for understanding.
I feel like thank you is not enough of a word to say for everyone who has shown support, love, and prayed for him! But THANK YOU really for continuing to pray for him and all the support you have shown us and him! We are truly blessed to have amazing friends and family in our lives! THANK YOU! Continue to pray for him as I know he will be back home to us soon!

Okay I know I have not done an update for a while. Since basically everything remains the same. I was able to talk to his doctor today and she informed me that he was able to breathe on his own for an hour which is a great progress! Now when they removed the tube from his mouth he did not take it too well and his heart rate spiked and they had to re intubate him once again. But is showing great progress slowly. He is doing breathing therapy at the moment and shows great progress.
In regards to his surgery they are making sure that he can breath properly before going into surgery. At the moment he is stable and healing properly that when he does go into surgery all will turn out great. So far he is in a great path and remains in that path.
He is resting now after going through that rough test today. But remains stable and in ICU for close care!
Once again no update means good news. Once anything changes again I promise to keep u all updated I have been trying to. Sorry if it has been a while for an update but I have to make sure I am still taking care of my daughters and our home while he is away. So thank you for those who have been patient for updates.
Thank you everyone for all ur love and support. For those who continue to take the time to include him in your prayers as well. Means so much to us!
n not heal it. I trust they know what they are doing and making sure he can recover properly.
Thank you all for your prayers! Thank you for those who continue to pray for him. ❤❤❤❤
