Greg's Eye Surgery Fund

Donation protected
As many of you already know, this past Sunday, May 18th, Greg was working on his rooftop build-out to keep himself occupied during quarantine when a piece of wood that he was working with was ejected from his circular saw and shattered his safety glasses, causing shards of plastic to make two deep incisions on his cornea. The cuts have caused a loss of vision in his left eye, and while the initial evaluation projected that this injury would be a long, rocky road of healing, we are now feeling more optimistic after consulting some physicians back in the states that seem to think a more immediate surgery may available that may speed the process of healing and increase the likelihood for a majority recovery.

Greg has been in touch with some specialists at Massachusetts Eye and Ear, and they seemed to have some ideas for a more accelerated treatment plan. They are currently exploring options for surgery and determining next steps to help him get his vision back. That being said, there will be a large price tag that accompanies surgery and subsequent treatments, and this comes at an inopportune time given the recent pandemic that has already put the diving community out of work for months as we’ve all had to wait out quarantine.

One of the things that I have always been inspired by in our community is the sense of camaraderie among divers. Greg has been diving avidly since 2005, and been an instructor for 10+ years. He’s mentored students and impacted thousands of lives in countries across the globe. Now, he needs our help. Understandably, this is a tough time for everyone, but even a dollar or two goes a long way if everyone who’s been impacted by Greg’s helpful nature and adventurous spirit follows suit. Seriously, no donation is too small, and I know how much it will mean to Greg even if it’s a small donation. He’s already been overwhelmed by the numerous people who have checked in with him to see how he’s doing.

I know Greg wishes to thank each of you in advance for whatever donation you are capable of making, and he would love to hear words of encouragement as well as he navigates this tough time. Let’s come together and help make our friend whole again. <3  Thank you <3
