Greg, Melissa & Morrison Jeffrey

On September 23rd, 2016, Greg and Melissa Jeffrey brought their beautiful son Morrison John Jeffrey into this world. During the first hour they experienced all the joys that a parent would after their child was born. The first time you see them, the first skin to skin, the first feeding and the first time you look into their eyes. Nine months of anticipation, excitement and preparation could not prepare them for the joy and happiness that they felt at seeing the perfection of their son. Their son is still perfect.
Shortly after Morrison's birth, Melissa and Greg's joy turned to fear when they learned that their son had been born with Spinal Bifida – a rare birth defect where there is an incomplete closing of the backbone and membranes around the spinal cord. This defect can cause significant neurological and physical complications. Some of these complications can be immediate and many will not be known for years to come.
Within days of learning of their son’s diagnosis, Melissa fell ill. She was rushed to the hospital across the street from where her son was being cared for, and had to have her appendix removed immediately. At this point, Greg was visiting his wife and new son at different hospitals.
Morrison, Melissa and Greg are all in good spirits and in good health, however, they have a difficult path ahead of them. They have needed to take unpaid time from work, at a time that can be very expensive. If you know Greg, Melissa or Morisson and you wish to help them in their journey, then please consider donating to the Go Fund Me account created on behalf of their family. If you wish to find out more information about Spinal Bifida then please visit http://sbhac.ca/ .
