Hi, my name is Alex and I am Greg's girlfriend. As most of you know on December 3, 2019, Greg suffered a stroke. The doctors found a blood clot in his brain and on December 6, 2019, he had a procedure done called a thrombectomy. A thrombectomy is a procedure where a tube is inserted through someone’s groin and up to their brain to suck (for lack of a better word) out the blood clot. The surgeon was able to remove most of the clot but not all of it. Because it was unable to be completely removed, Greg woke up from the surgery and was unable to use his right side and unable to speak. Since being released from the hospital, he has made great progress in his recovery. He has gone from a wheelchair to a walker and is now only using a cane when walking. His speech has improved so much as well. Greg attends therapy every day and spends an additional two hours a day on his own working on his recovery. While his progress is amazing, we still have a long way to go before he is able to go back to work.
Unfortunately, at the beginning of August, Greg's speech started regressing at a rapid pace. We returned to the hospital and a CT Scan showed that there was blood in his brain that was not supposed to be there. He was then admitted to the hospital and had to undergo a procedure called a craniotomy subdural hematoma evacuation. The procedure was successful but it has now set his recovery back even more.
Greg has owned his law firm for over 15 years. Prior to that, he was a Chief Deputy District Attorney at the Clark County District Attorney's Officer for 10 years. I have been working for him for the past 10 and while working together is wonderful , it has been difficult to juggle the office, Greg’s appointments and taking care of our two year old son, Max, and his 16 year old son, Michael, during this time. COVID-19 has made this situation even harder because I have been attempting to work from home and take care of Max which, as anyone who has a toddler knows, is pretty impossible.
Neither Greg nor I have taken a paycheck since his stroke in December and because we have no exact date he will be able to go back to work, we are in a position now where we need help with our huge amount of medical bills. Any money donated will go directly to help pay Greg’s medical expenses.
Greg is such an amazing person and it breaks my heart that this has happened to him. Any help or prayers you can give us during this time is appreciated.
