Greg's Cancer Fund

Cancer sucks... For several years now, Greg has undergone numerous surgeries to remove a recurring tumor from his right inner ear at St Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, AL. Sadly, the tumor has become more aggressive, so Greg chose to get opinions and treatment options from other specialists far from home.

 

On January 26th, Greg had surgery at MD Anderson in Houston to resect what is known as adenocarcinoma from his inner ear and upper neck region. Greg was able to fly home on February 9th and is recovering more comfortably with his wife, Emily, and their two beautiful children, Nate & Abby. The surgery was mostly successful, but the cancer had spread more than anticipated, so he will need radiation treatment to finish the job. Greg will begin radiation treatment in a few weeks at MD Anderson in Houston. The treatments run M-F for 6 weeks straight.

The whole Givens family is very touched by the outpouring of love and support from so many of their friends in the Tuscaloosa community. A meal train has already been set up with dinners through the end of March.  This fundraiser is intended as a way for friends & family to support and send well wishes to Greg and his family. The year will undoubtedly be difficult for both Greg and his family but they are focused on the most important part, Greg's recovery & obtaining a lasting cure for his cancer.
