Greg Gillette - Gone Too Soon

Donation protected

It's hard to find the right words, but I wanted to let you all know that we lost Greg Gillette on August 2nd, 2023, at his home in Concordia, Missouri. He had a sudden bout of severe pain and after a hospital visit, we were hit with the news of pancreatitis. As if that wasn’t enough to process, we learned he also had liver cancer. He bravely went through the initial treatments, but then the pancreatitis returned with a vengeance. Cancer treatments had to pause, and just a week later, we had to say our unexpected goodbyes.

56 years - it feels like he was taken from us way too soon. Little Sophrina always loved her video chats with G-Pa. She giggles about pulling his beard and how he always had a joke or pun ready to make her laugh. I personally can't help but think about the in-depth chats we'd have about things we both loved. Bonnie has her fond memories too, especially their long chats about gardening. Greg was honestly a jack-of-all-trades.

Now, with Greg gone, Bonnie's been in Missouri helping her mom, Sue. But the house is showing its wear and tear. There's a broken backdoor step with some nasty nails sticking out, the front door's being a pain, and then there's the leaking shower and mold issues in the bathrooms. Plus, the fridge is on its last legs and the floors have seen better days. The funeral alone cost us $5,000.

Bonnie's heading back to Missouri at the end of September to sort things out. But this time, she’s going solo for two weeks. Little Sophrina will be staying here with me, probably getting spoiled a bit more than usual.

We're reaching out because we could really use some help. Anything you can spare would be amazing. It's not just about the repairs or bills, it’s about giving Sue some stability and comfort during this incredibly hard time. If you're in a position to chip in, know that every little bit helps and is deeply appreciated.

Thanks for being there for us.
