Hello, my name is Mark Gibson. I'm fundraising for my brother Greg Gibson. Greg's wife Cindy died unexpectedly on July 7, 2022, and Greg is hospitalized. Greg is in desperate need of funds for medical and day-to-day expenses.
Greg and Cindy Gibson were married in December 2007. They both lived a life of service to others, with Cindy’s work at Disability Rights Texas and Greg as a Mental Health Counselor at Integral Care in Austin. Together, they raised three children. They were passionate about family, pets and football.
For the past couple of years, Greg and Cindy struggled with Greg’s sudden onset of COVID-related dementia and cognitive loss. Unable to continue his work as a licensed professional counselor, Greg was laid off from his position in March 2021. Cindy continued her work while taking on the highly challenging tasks of sole breadwinner and full-time caregiver for Greg.
On July 7th, an unforeseen tragedy struck. Greg and Cindy laid down for a nap. Greg awoke to find his loving wife Cindy deceased next to him. Greg called 911. When the first responders arrived, they saw Greg’s condition and immediately called an ambulance and transported him to the hospital, where he remains. He just observed his birthday on July 14th in the hospital, a widower with a very uncertain future.
There are so many next steps and challenges ahead. Greg’s son Walker lived with Greg and Cindy. Walker is on the autism spectrum and has a part-time job at Goodwill. As of Cindy’s passing, Greg has no income or means of support. Walker is financially unable at this point to live independently. Greg will soon be transported to a skilled nursing facility for an undetermined period.
After a lifetime of service to others, Greg needs to now rely on the kindness and support of others for medical bills and basic living expenses. In honor of Cindy’s memory and her service to others, and in recognition of Greg’s lifelong dedication to his fellow man, please help Greg. Thank you…
