Westerly Sun- Hopkinton basement fire
My name is Mark Lacz and I am raising money for a friend and her family. On Saturday, March 4th, Shannon Howard received a call while at work that her residence was on fire. Knowing her husband was home she rushed back to a scene filled with over 40 firefighters, ambulance and first responders. Smoke was billowing out and fireman rushed to get the blaze under control. Luckily nobody was hurt but when the fire was finally extinguished the family quickly realized that their lives had taken a sudden turn for the worse.
Shannon and Greg Howard were married on October 9th, 2016 and had recently received news that they would be expecting their first child this fall. Greg has been working towards a degree in landscape architecture at the University of Rhode Island and Shannon has been working full time at Casa Della Luce. The Howards were just starting their new life together when it all came burning down.
As their friend and Shannon's co-worker, I felt the urge to campaign on her behalf. Shannon is the type of person who would give the shirt off her back to help someone in need. As a father, I can only imagine how they felt seeing their home burning and knowing that they would soon be providing for their baby. We are all grateful that no one was seriously hurt but we cannot escape the fact that our dear friends have a lot of rebuilding to do.
With your help, we hope to give Shannon and Greg the assistance they need and deserve to get their lives back on track. The money we raise will go towards the essentials: Clothes, shoes, rent, a bed, linens, furniture, a nursery and piece of mind knowing that there are people out there that are as generous as Greg and Shannon Howard.
I would be forever grateful if we could reach our goal. Time is of the essence and there is no donation too small or too generous. Please consider the circumstances and please spread the word.
Thank you,
Mark Lacz
