Greg and Cathy’s Irish Honeymoon
Dear friends and family,
I’m sure that many of you know that our dear Greg has been diagnosed with younger onset Alzheimer’s disease. We are all deeply saddened by the news, but are amazed at Greg’s positive attitude and constant jokes about his memory. This is a very challenging time for our family, but particularly Greg, who is very unsure of his future. We have no idea about timing, and so we want to create a wonderful memory while we still have thetime.
Mum and Greg have always dreamt
of traveling to Ireland together. Growing up, we heard and learnt so many songs and ballads of Ireland, and are all proud of our heritage.
They have talked of the idea of seeing Ireland for many years, but have always put the needs of their family first, choosing their kids over an overseas holiday. It would be an absolute dream to have them sitting in a small town Irish pub, sharing a Guinness, describing the holiday they’d always wished to be on, making absolutely special memories that will hopefully defy the situation.
Greg is a wonderful man, who has turned the lives of our whole family around. Mum, who was hurt deeply and needed a loyal, secure husband, found her man in Greg. He has loved and supported many, and has particularly always fought for his kids and put us first in all he does.
A big part of me feels very odd making this page, but I figure that if a bunch of people gave just $20, it will go a long way to making the most perfect memory that Cathy and Greg have always dreamed of. I leave you with the Irish blessing, which they both hold dear, and ask you to consider helping them go on their well overdue honeymoon.
May the road rise up to meet you;
May the wind be always at your back;
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Thank you so much for considering this. We know not everyone is in a place to give, and at the end of the day your love and support for our family is what truly matters.
Much love,
Kieran, Melinda and Shannon
