Greetings to all sentient beings who believe in the equality of all humans!

I am Mahmoud Atieh Alutol from Gaza, Palestine, currently living in Belgium, sharing my story with a heavy heart.

Five years ago, I had to flee Gaza, spending all my savings to travel and risking my life by immigrating through the sea to seek asylum in the EU, searching for a better future for myself, my five children, and my family.

We were escaping recurrent wars, aggressions on the Gaza Strip, poverty, high unemployment rates, and a lack of opportunities due to the blockade imposed on Gaza. Living as an immigrant has never been easy, being separated from my family, exerting immense effort to work, and struggling to enjoy basic rights. Years later, I managed to reunite my family, but our living conditions as immigrants remain challenging.

In October 2023, the deadliest war broke out in Gaza again, forcing my family, including my elderly parents, to flee from the north to the relatively safer middle area amidst the cold winter. They had to endure days in the streets and then in a tent, suffering from mud, cold, lack of hygiene, food shortages, bombardments, fear, lack of medical supplies, and more. As you may know, internet and telecommunication connections were frequently severed in Gaza, causing me to lose contact with my parents multiple times, fearing for their safety.
Today marks the 175th day of the war, and the situation is getting worse. Gaza has become uninhabitable due to the destruction of infrastructure, hospitals, streets, food shortages, and the absence of safe areas. Additionally, there are ground invasions and forced starvation.

My elderly parents, who should be receiving medical care and enjoying their twilight years in warmth and safety, are instead subjected to these atrocities. My wife has lost her entire family without the chance to bid them a proper farewell, and I fear I may suffer the same fate.

Despite the hardships, we cling to hope and cherish life. Therefore, I wish to evacuate my parents to Egypt to temporarily stay with relatives until I can bring them to Belgium, where I reside.

The cost of leaving Gaza through the Rafah crossing into Egypt is indeed daunting, ranging from $5,000 to $7,000 per person, an amount I simply cannot afford. I am already facing significant challenges here as an immigrant as I strive to provide for my family and ensure they have a decent quality of life.

Your assistance would mean the world to us as we strive for better days ahead. Every donation, no matter the size, helps mend our broken spirits and hearts. I earnestly appeal to all compassionate souls to help me share my story with their acquaintances.

Thank you for your support and understanding during these challenging times. Your support means your compassion and solidarity towards justice and safeguarding human lives.
