I’m Dr. Marissa Jablonski.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve really cared about the planet—big bodies of water, clean air, how things grow in soil—and I’ve thought a lot about where things go when we throw them away or put them in the recycle bin.

My love for the planet led me to pursue a career in environmental science and earn a PhD in Water and Wastewater Engineering—and I’ve worked with communities and organizations across 45 countries to create and implement smart, local solutions to global environmental waste problems.

One thing that’s clear to me: we are all connected through air, water, and soil—and people need to work with the planet and each other. Right now, solutions are out there, but they’re hidden in the noise of information.

Getting serious about our waste is important because there is no “away”—we all live downstream from others. On Greenwashed & Confused, we’re going behind the scenes of waste systems in different cities around the world. We’ll show what’s working, what’s not, and who to work with to make change.
