Green, Ohio Family in Need

Please help my friends, The Herbaugh’s, who are experiencing an emergency financial situation. The Herbaugh’s need immediate assistance to get their rent caught up and and keeping their insurance, etc. current.  Kim has found a new job, but has not started yet while awaiting her background check to return from the state. The timing of this unplanned break has allowed her, however, to be with Phil to make medical decisions on his behalf with his recent hospitalization.

As you know, Phil suffered a TBI (traumatic brain injury) in May of 2015 that left him permanently disabled. Since this time,  Kim left her child care business of 14years to help Phil, along with Jon and Lindsay,  cope with their father’s recovery for one year, on a daily basis. During this time, the family lived on savings and odd jobs Kim did on the side, as well as house cleaning, and caring for a terminally ill friend for a few months. Kim has had difficulty maintaining work, with two employers not being understanding when she had to miss time from work when emergencies arose with Phil.

Phil has had two different incidents of very violent grand mal seizures, both times he wasn’t expected to survive. This past week he fell and was admitted to the hospital again with pnuemonia and encephalitis. Apparently his shunt malfunctioned and he had surgery on Thursday, July 12th to replace the malfunctioning shunt.  Phil will require several weeks of intense physical and occupational therapy. He is currently at Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital.  The family also incurs the expense of driving to Cleveland during his hospitalization.

Jon is getting ready to start college in August at Cleveland State University. He will be majoring in physical therapy, with the hope of helping others, whether recooperating from an injury, or learning to walk and maintain coordination and balance, like his father.

Let’s support this family through this crisis!  The family does not like asking for help, so let’s come together as a community and along with their friends and family to help them back on their feet. I cannot imagine, as a mom, worrying about the possibility of losing a place to provide for your children to live, while coping with Phil’s newest emergency, preparing for a new job, and sending her son off to college.
