Green Kids School in Puerto La Boca

Donation protected
There are few gifts for a child like that of a quality education. Education is the chance for a greater future and opportunity, opportunity that is often absent from the lives of rural children. The Green Kids School (Escuela Ninos Verdes) is a sustainably designed project working to make the gift of education possible for the children of Puerto La Boca, Manabi, Ecuador. Working with the Ministry of Education of Ecuador, The Green Kids School provides an education centered around a respect for our natural world and based in four core principles - Democracy, Activity, Respect and Community.

Nestled in the artisanal town of Puerto Cayo, Manabi, Puerto La Boca is a small population of primarily fisherman and farmers. With immediate access to quality education being difficult, children here are often faced with limited options for social mobility, relegated to forgo advancement academically in the face of supporting their families.

Our goal is to grow not only their minds but the quality of their relationship with the pristine nature that surrounds them in an effort to give them the fundamental tools to remove limits on their future potential. We believe that with a foundation based in sustainability and respect for nature, these future generations will be greater equipped to benefit themselves, their families, their communities, and the world that we share together.

In conjunction with the entire community of Puerto La Boca, Ecuador, the VUELTAS foundation, foundation RIE, The Ministry of Education of Ecuador and Ecuador’s first sustainable agrihood community, Oceanside Farms in Puerto Cayo, Ecuador, we are seeking support to help make this dream possible. This is not only an investment in the future of these children but those for generations to come.

We believe that this is an investment that carries exponential impact by helping to support the future and preservation of our world.

Sincerely,
The Entire team and the community of Puerto La Boca

* The Education

The novelty of the Innovation and Improvement program is that it eliminates traditional problems in rural schools (truancy, lack of specialists, suspension of classes, violence, lack of resources ...) and manages to place the community as the protagonist. Improvement is demonstrated in a real and direct way via three axes:

The ChanGo method

Fair and quality school: Provide rural schools with innovation and quality through a comprehensive and profound transformation.
School as an agent of change: Plan with the idea that the school can impact direct changes in the community
School as a social and environmental elevator: Guarantee that children and young people acquire the key skills to achieve their social mobility and opportunity for transformation at the family and community level.

* Project Timeline

The inaugural class for the Green Kids School is scheduled for 2021.
