Many of you know Jennifer Green from either teaching your kids or watching your dogs or both. She was diagnosed with colon cancer in September of 2023. She has been receiving chemotherapy, and is scheduled for 6 months of treatment. In January, she experienced a scary health emergency and she was taken to the hospital, where doctors discovered she had a brain bleed and blood clots in her brain. She was transferred to Medstar Hospital in Washington DC, which is over 1.5 hours from her family's home in Middletown. She is working on getting better but she has a long road ahead of her. At this time, her family is unsure when she will be able to leave the hospital. The money raised will help go towards medical expenses, travel/ gas expenses, food, hotel stays, etc. while Jennifer is getting the care and treatment she needs to come home. Her son Brycen has flown in from Colorado to be with her and the family to help during these unforeseen times.

Update 1/30: Jennifer’s doctors have told the family her next step will be going to an inpatient rehab facility for intensive physical therapy. Jennifer and her family want the best care possible for her so they decided to stay with MedStar hospital for her rehab meaning she will be staying in Washington DC until she is well enough to come home or move to a closer facility to Frederick. They are hopeful that she will be moving over to the facility within the week. This also means the family will have to travel to and from DC or stay in hotels in DC to be able to visit her frequently and be involved in her recovery. We won’t know how long she will have to be at the facility meaning lots of time spent traveling to DC while also making sure that Sean and Logan are able to work while still seeing Jennifer.

As many of you know Jennifer loves dogs and has 2 furbabies of her own Bogie and Lucy but she also considers all the dogs she dogs sits for as her own as well. The family felt is was very important to have either their own dogs or therapy dogs be involved in her recovery. The rehab facility has said her family will be allowed to bring Bogie (Lucy possibly once she is stronger) on nice days so Jennifer can have time with them. She is determined and motivated to get back home to her family and Bogie and Lucy. We know that her being able to see the dogs will only help with her recovery.
