Green Card Security for LGBT Immigrant

Did you know in order to get a green card in the US, there’s an application fee of $2,000? And on top of that there’s another $2,000 lawyer fee?
My friend came to the US from Korea to escape a homophobic environment and abusive home situation, and to pursue a college degree. She worked hard, earned her Bachelor’s, made friends, and started a life of freedom where she could be true to herself as a lesbian. Then her student visa ran out.
She’s since been working hard and struggling to make ends meet at jobs that pay cash under the table and don’t ask questions, but with the catch of giving her work hours that are over the legal limit and paying less than minimum wage.
With these exploitative and unhealthy work environments, she’s had to quit several jobs and find new ones over and over again. Now she has a job that isn’t as bad as past ones and she’s able to earn and save enough money for rent and day-to-day living expenses.
But, in order to get her green card and remain safely in this country without the looming threat of deportation, she will need to come up with the required $4,000 in the next 6 months.
My friend has picked out a good lawyer, done all the research on the process, and is now prepared to begin the process. The only piece missing is the $4,000 for the lawyer and application fee.
A green card for my friend would mean she can stay here safely and continue her life without fear. It is crucial. And we need your help.
