Greek Squash National Team Funding

Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you may know, last year my brother and I qualified for the Men’s Greek National Squash Team and represented Greece in the European Championships in Bucharest Romania. I am overly excited and deeply honored to be invited once again to participate in European Championships in Jersey, Channel Islands England. Last year we reached fifth place and this year we will aim for finals to achieve our dream of moving up one division.
I have been playing squash since I was eight years old and have played in international tournaments all around the world including Romania, Hong Kong, and Egypt. Being able to contribute my athletic skills to represent Greece in the international scale is a dream come true. In my recent exchanges with EFOA, (Hellenic Federation of Athletics), I learned that due to the staggering economic crisis that has plagued Greece for the past 8 years, the association has encountered tremendous difficulties to raise the necessary funds to sponsor our trip to Jersey. Most of the players who were invited to play on the team however, are coaches or students with limited resources and do not have the money to pay for these expenses. They as much as I, are passionate for the sport and even more for their country. We have dedicated unlimited hours of practice in preparation to reach the level that we are at.
Living in the US – a country with unlimited resources and where hard work, effort and dedication is recognized and rewarded, I made a promise to my team to fundraise on their behalf and to make this trip possible for all the players that deserve to be at Jersey fighting for Greece.
Your contributions will ensure that the best players of Greece will be part of the team and will offer us a better chance of achieving our goal to reach the finals. Our fundraising goal is $5,000, which will fully cover the team’s expenses including: Transport to the events, Airplane tickets for our team, Room and Board at the events, and Entry fee for the competitions.
Please help me reach this goal for the love of not only the team but of our country.
