Greatest Brother in the World

Hi, my name is Patty and I'm fundraising for my brother, Andrés, who is going through the mother of all rough patches after a difficult separation and now a break in.

Andrés is in his late 40s and lives in Chile. He is a dad of two, owns and operates a smash burger food truck, and is a certified dog trainer. But his true passion has always been music. When he was little, he became enamoured with percussion and all he wanted was a drum kit of his own. He even built himself one with anything he could find around the house that would make a different sound: pots and pans, boxes of all sizes, and even a bird cage. Our stepbrother, a steadfast believer in Andrés and about a decade older than us, bought him a proper kit with his first salary when Andrés was in his teens. He grew to become an unstoppable, self-taught, eclectic musician who can rock or jam with bands of different genres, and who with time has taught himself a bit of piano, guitar, bass and vocals, has started and formed part of many different bands, and has contributed his drum tracks to music by several other artists.

Three nights ago, a man broke into his home studio and stole his guitar, his bass, two of his snares, a guitar effects processor and, the lowest of blows, his hard drives with all his musical projects of the last 6 years. This comes as he was just starting to pick himself up after separating from his wife and all that entails: hitting an emotional rock bottom, a financial rock bottom, and treading water as he tries to continue to help provide for his kids.

Andrés is a lucky man in many ways: he has siblings and parents who care about him and worry for him, a pair of amazing and healthy kids who worship him, a roof (albeit leaky) over his head, and a large network of friends and colleagues who respect and celebrate his achievements and who have witnessed how he has picked himself up from many a bumpy episode in his life. He is resilient, no doubt. But he could really use a little extra help at this time to ease his immediate worries so he can focus on getting back on track.
