Tiverton Community Orchard

2021/2022  has been a very busy winter for the Tiverton Tree Team, with more than 50 local people giving up their Saturdays to join us in:

- Creating Tiverton's first-ever Community Orchard: the riverside site behind Morrisons has been turned from an unloved patch of grass into a magical orchard containing more than 50 varieties of fruits and nuts - including plums, apples, pears, hazels, almonds, medlars, blueberries, redcurrants, cherries and many many more - all of which will be free for the people of Tiverton to pick and enjoy in the years to come.  Everyone's invited to the OpeningCeremony & Easter Egg Hunt on Good Friday at 11am.  

- Restoring an ancient woodland - we've planted about 800 trees in two planting days and hoping to get another 600 into the ground on Saturday 19th March. If you'd like to come and help, please email [email redacted]

- Caring for the trees we planted in previous years - there's no point planting trees if you don't care for them afterwards, so some of our efforts this year have gone into weeding, mulching and generally attending to some of the 6,000 trees we planted in 2019/2020. 

We now need to raise £1,500 to pay for sign-boards, fencing and benches for the orchard, plus mulch and other bits for the trees.
