Great Scott & Zumix Twofer Fundraising Campaign

Carl Lavin has rallied the Boston music community and is working to save our beloved Great Scott by relocating it to a new location while remaining in Allston in both spirit and presence. He's entered negotiations with the owners of 353 Cambridge Street, the former location of Allston’s Pizzeria Regina, and is letting the community vote with their wallets to save a cultural institution and invest in the future of Allston.
Lots of us have been following along and have contributed to the cause with investments through the official Mainvest page . As the efforts continue, I've had several conversations with people who, for one reason or another, haven't been able to contribute in the same way but would like to. Times are tight right now, and while Mainvest has kept the minimum investment as low as possible, $100 is still a lot of money for a lot of us.
So my idea is this: as Carl steps into the next phase of investment fundraising, what if we set up a separate avenue for anyone who wants to contribute outside the Mainvest campaign? Carl seemed pretty keen on the idea, so here we are. This GoFundMe is set up to run concurrently with the Mainvest campaign, here for anyone who would like to offer smaller amounts.
The only real question was what to do with the money and interest that comes back once Great Scott is open and running and incredibly successful once again. Since the money will be sent to Mainvest from me, but it isn't actually my money, I'm not going to keep it, but I also don't have any way to track and distribute it back to everyone involved.
The answer is pretty simple: let's give that money to Zumix in East Boston! Once the campaign wraps up, the funds will be transferred to Zumix, who have been working for nearly 30 years to empower young people to build successful futures for themselves through music, technology, and creative employment who will in turn invest it in the GS Mainvest campaign. From that point, they'll be able to collect the Mainvest payouts as they occur.
So, at the end of the day, this is an opportunity to support two amazing causes. We help get Great Scott back up and running first, then when the investment pays off we help Zumix continue their important mission.
