Great Pyrenees Lulu Osteosarcoma Cancer Amputation

Donation protected
Lulu my 5.5yr old Rescue Great Pyrenees was diagnosed last Wednesday with Osteosarcoma, an extremely painful fast growing cancer. I am beside myself with grief. In the course of the last 7 days, we met with a Canine Orthopedic Surgeon and an Oncologist to see if the cancer has metastasized to her lungs and to determine if she was a strong candidate for amputation and cancer trials. The X-rays came back negative for lung metastasis and she turned out to be a great candidate to physically handle weight redistribution, health, youth and attitude.  I decided we would go for it.

After the amputation, she will be immediately enrolled in medical trials for research to end child osteosarcoma. It's a devastating disease that affects young children and large & giant breed canines that has frustrated the medical world continuously. They are getting closer with two different medicines but so far it's extending life not eradicating this particular cancer. Our Oncologist, at Blue Pearl Atlanta, has two trials in mind, Colorado State University Veterinary School and University of South Carolina.

All of her drug compliance and progress will be tracked by the veterinary research school who the Oncologist will get us into. All goes towards finding a cure for these children so I am feeling her life is going to the greater good toward a cure and that makes me feel better her cancer wasn't for not.

The estimated cost with medications, travel to the studies and continued treatments are estimated to be 10k. The amputation alone at Northlake Veterinary Surgery in Atlanta GA will be $3500. I wouldn't ever ask for help but I'm sinking. I normally donate to causes, raise funds for animal rescue, transport rescue dogs and more recently fostered an abandoned cat in my neighborhood but this time I need help.

We are starting our medical journey Monday August 12th to amputate her leg. I am asking each of you who are moved by Lulu plight to please consider even a $1 toward her medical expenses.
