Great North Children’s Hospital - REACH-IN

Hi there, my name’s Bella and I am fundraising for the Great North Children’s Hospital REACH-IN (Research and Education in Allergic Disease for children in Newcastle) charity.

This is the designated charity for the Great North Children’s Hospital Tertiary Paediatric Allergy service. Having been a patient with this service for nearly 10 years, the welcoming staff and positive environment that they create has prepared me to manage my allergies responsibly when starting university this September.

I’m hoping research in this field can reassure others that allergies aren’t something that should limit us and they can be controlled to prevent severe reactions.

Following Natasha’s Law, the improvement of labelling of all ingredients in shops, cafes and restaurants has made going out for meals a more enjoyable and stress free experience.

Since the Great North Run was cancelled in 2020, I managed to complete it by myself. In 2021, following an issue with my registration, I once again ran the distance on my own.

This year I have managed to enter with no issues and so will finally be able to run alongside everyone else taking part!
