Great Grandmaster Ralph Castro Memorial Fund

Donation protected
Our family is brokenhearted to share that Great Grandmaster Ralph Castro passed away in the early morning of Monday, February 25, 2019.

His life legacy expands farther than just as the founder of Shaolin Kenpo, but as a teacher and mentor whose passion for martial arts and his students had an indescribable impact on the martial art industry that spread throughout the globe. But most importantly he was our father and grandfather.

Due to the overwhelming outpour of love and support for Great Grandmaster Ralph Castro, we have established a memorial fund. If you are able to support, Great Grandmaster Ralph Castro's memorial fund, please know that these contributions will cover his memorial service and medical expenses.

Thank you for your kind words, prayers and continued love and support.

A MARTIAL ARTS PIONEER

Great Grandmaster Ralph Castro is recognized for opening the first Kenpo Karate Studio in Northern California in 1958. It was then that he began a life's work to establish his own martial art: Shaolin Kenpo.

Over the years, while teaching tens of thousands of students, promoting hundreds of Black Belts and inspiring generations, his impact and reputation continued to grow.

He was featured in many Martial Arts publications (including Black Belt Magazine's 1988 Hall of Fame), and a proud recipient of the Martial Arts History Museum Lifetime Achievement Award.

A NATIVE HAWAIIAN VETERAN

Great Grandmaster Ralph Castro was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and raised on the Hawaiian Homestead. He was of Spanish and Hawaiian decent and one of eight children. He served in the US Coast Guard during the Korean War.

A LOVING HUSBAND, FATHER, AND MORE...

Great Grandmaster Ralph Castro was also known as "Papa" to his family, who all have many memories of spending time with him watching action movies, cheering for the San Francisco 49ers, and enjoying his delicious home-cooked meals. He is survived by his wife, Pat, their seven children, twenty-two grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
