Great Eth. Giving Back - Edmonton for Chagni, Eth
Donation protected
My name is Beth Negash. I and my good friend Esayas Amanuel who lives in Edmonton, Alberta are only two of many concerned about the impact of the current conflict on individual Ethiopians. Therefore, motivated by the goal of rescuing, then reviving and rebuilding Ethiopia ONE CITY AT AT TIME, as outlined at our website www.greatethiopiangivingback.com, we are raising funds to help save lives and restore thousands of internally displaced people back to their homes in Chagni, Ethiopia
Chagni is a town in Northwestern Ethiopia in Agew Awi zone with a population of about 31,000 as of the 2005 census. This town has seen many ethnically motivated conflicts for some time now.
The immediate needs of the internally displaced people in and around Chagni are for food, clothing, sanitary items, kitchen utensils, and bedding items. My friends and I have determined that the quickest and most practical way to provide these needs is to raise funds, send the funds to our friends in Addis, purchase the needed items in-country, and hand-deliver to our verified contacts in Chagni.
We have a goal for one or more of us to go visit Chagni and to see how things are going and the extent of support needed. Because, even though we are rushing to provide lifesaving and restorative items, we don't plan on providing them with financial help indefinitely. Our goal is to support and guide them toward self-sufficiency, and then on to becoming a thriving town.
We will rescue, revive, and rebuild. For more information, please visit our website at www.greatethiopiangivingback.com
