Greasing the wheels of My Creativity

My name is Dave Revels

I have been an independent artist for most of my career, writing and performing my songs with the expressed intent to perform them live. I believe a song isn't truly complete until you present it to an audience who, by their reaction, get to place the final and most needed, punctuation marks.

My musical journey began in the early 70s and span several genres ot music. From recording and performing live with calypso legend The Mighty Sparrow and doing shows with early reggae legends, The Blues Busters (Phillip and Llyody) to my years touring the world with The Drifters, and then A cappella iconic group, The Persuasions, both as lead vocalist and arranger/producer of several of their albums, including the 2017 collaboration with Barenaked Ladies titled, Ladies and Gentlemen, Barenaked Ladies and The Persuasions. I sang lead and had the pleasure of reimagining the background vocals on 15 of their most popular songs as well as arranging the musical instrumental accompaniment to The Persuasions classic song, "Good Times."

In 2021 I cowrote and recorded the song "Birds & Sleeping Dogs with Jorma Kaukonen of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna. This union sprang from a friendship we developed during my time as a vocal teacher at his famed Fur Peace Ranch in Pomeroy Ohio.  

Not signed to any label, I have financed my projects entirely on my own. As we all know, the cost to transact any endeavor has risen - from musicians, studio recording, mix and mastering time, video, promoting and marketing and distribution.  My last record release, "Anytime You're Close To Me," recorded and released during the pandemic is presently enjoying chart success on the Beachmusic45 chart (#14). However, it is now time for a follow up song. In order to keep that momentum going, I am creating this gofundme campaign.

My next song promotes family and personal relationship values, as do all my songs. The follow up single which this campaign is for, speaks to the importance of a one and one relationship with your chosen partner and building a lifetime bond as a couple. The title is “One Man Woman”.

I am looking to raise $10,000 to cover anticipated recording and promotional cost.

In exchange for your generosity and support of my artistry, I will send each donor, who donates $50 or more a signed copy of my present CD "Songs From My Heart," with a thank you letter.

For silver donors, donations of $100 or more, we will give you the autographed CD and letter plus a link to video clips highlighting the recording session of the song. For Platinum donors of $250 dollars or more I will give all the previous gifts plus a complimentary ticket to my September 12 birthday bash at the Cutting Room in NYC.

I appreciate all my fans, family and friends who continue to enjoy and support my musical endeavors.  For many of us, music is the heartbeat of our existence. Through bringing songs to the public we all can be inspired and exposed to new worlds.
