Grayson's Struggle: Extend His Hospital Stay

Donation protected

Grayson is an 8-year-old kitty with hyperthyroidism, which is pretty young for a cat to have. He's been doing well after his diagnosis, taking the correct medication and care needed.

But as of Saturday, he's been in the hospital after not eating and becoming very lethargic for 2 days. We immediately brought him to an animal ER knowing the cost would be astronomical. He's my best friend, my family, and all that mattered was to give him the best care possible.

I've already spent my absolute limit financially for the current 3-day stay at the hospital where they've done X-rays, medications, care, and IVs to keep him stable while they try to figure out what's causing this fever returning every 10 hours or so and to get him to eat on his own (it's been 5 days since he's eaten by himself).

This GoFundMe would give Grayson the extended stay and ultrasound needed to further give the vets time to find out what it is that's going on. I've never done a GoFundMe; I've only donated before for these same causes, but this is my only way to financially continue his treatment.

Thank you so much for reading about my beautiful boy and his current struggle.

*** Health info

Grayson was Diagnosed with hyperthyroidism 5 months ago, he was losing weight so fast, when we brought him in to the vet, he was only 7lbs. After we've been giving him the necessary medication and special food for his Hyperthyroidism, he gained his healthy weight back and was himself only 2 months after being brought in.

Abruptly he went from 100% normal/happy cat to barely moving, not eating or drinking within 2 days. (last Monday 100%, Wednesday night significant drop in activity and stopped eating). We brought him into the ER on Saturday morning, Friday we reached out to our normal vet, who told us he just had a "Tummy Ache". The Emergency vet took him in immediately and began working on him asap. constant updates throughout the day and change of bill after each update. We've gotten to the point where it was going to cost us ~5,000$ for this stay at the hospital for observation, a few blood tests and an Xray session.

Tests came back with Pancreatitis, Dehydration, Inflammation, Fever of 105, White-blood Cells were fine, but they showed they were fighting and infection. The Xrays came out fairly clean, they said they noticed he had a hernia that most likely was born with and a "mass" near his intestines. The mass didn't seem to concern them, they think its either a swollen Lymph-node or an awkward angle of the intestines in the xray.

They decided to keep him overnight until he started eating on his own and the fever diminished. We were able to get the current bill (Before Final Invoice) financed, which is roughly $4,000 at this point. Realistically we only have the funds for another $500 or so before we start pulling out of food/water bill/electric bill/ etc. But today (Monday 6/23) they called us saying his fever returned after being stable yesterday, so they need to run more tests and continue hospitalization. My stomach dropped, the additional treatment would cost about the amount we've already passed the limit with our finance option and the additional out of pocket costs. They sound confident that more time in the hospital will give them the time needed to pinpoint what is causing the fever to return.
