After long consideration, I have decided to launch this GoFundMe page to help cover the costs of legal documentation changes, medical supplies and eventually top surgery. I have contemplated for a while now whether or not I was going to create something like this. As much as I strive to be independent, I have had a very humbling journey thus far - it has not always been sunshine and rainbows. I have faced a lot of struggles emotionally, physically, mentally, etc. Additionally, having to balance bills, rent, and other monthly expenses has presented many financial obstacles due to being a full time student and part time worker alongside the impacts of Covid-19.
I have been doing gender affirming hormone replacement therapy (weekly testosterone injections) for about two months now. My confidence and self love has sky rocketed within the couple months of starting. Every day, even the slightest noticeable changes make me so happy. After 19 years of not being happy with my body and who I was, I am very delighted to state that I have never experienced such euphoria before. Loving my body and who I am is an amazing feeling that I have never really experienced before. It was a rough start for sure, but I am so happy with where I am at, and where I am headed. The next steps for me are legal name change and top surgery ! Unfortunately, top surgery is not in the foreseeable near future at this point due to other circumstances, but I am ready to take the next steps into legally changing my name. Identifying as Grayson for over the last 6 months has been nothing but wonderful. Although, I do face challenges when using IDs, filling out applications, etc. So being able to legally be seen as who I have been identifying as will help my dysphoria a lot too.
This goes without being said, but the appreciation I have for the love and support that I have been shown and showered with from friends and family members is beyond words. I am forever grateful for my supports and would not have been able to be where I am now without them.
