Hi, my name is Grayson Kelly, and I’m a Life Scout with Troop 123 in Seaford, VA, currently working on my Eagle Scout project. For my project, I’ll be leading a shoreline restoration effort at Back Creek Park in Yorktown, VA to help prevent erosion and improve local water quality.
Instead of using concrete or artificial barriers, I’ve chosen to restore the shoreline using bagged oyster shells. This eco-friendly method not only helps prevent the shoreline from receding, but it also encourages natural oyster growth, which benefits the health of our waterways. Oysters filter water, provide habitat for marine life, and build strong reef structures that last for generations.
To make this project a success, I need to raise $2,200 to cover the cost of materials, supplies, and equipment. In addition to financial support, I’m also looking for volunteers who are willing to help with the labor side of things—whether it’s bagging shells, transporting materials, or helping out on build days.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings me closer to completing this project and earning the rank of Eagle Scout. I’m incredibly grateful for any support you can provide—whether through a donation, volunteering, or simply sharing this page with others.
Thank you so much for helping me make a positive impact in our community and environment!
