Grayson get the education he deserves

Hey all, my name is Matt and I’m currently volunteering in Tanzania.

This is Grayson T, he’s 7 years old from Arusha in Tanzania, in the heart of Africa.

He’s currently enrolled at Cherish Kindergarten/Preschool where my housemates are volunteering at and they told me a bit about his story before I met him.

Because of unfortunate situations out of his control, Grayson’s parents are not around for him. Currently, he is living with his loving grandmother. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have a steady income and struggles to provide food most nights, let alone primary school fees. Because of this, he is unable to progress from kindy despite being one of the oldest in his class.

(he only just received his kindy uniform today because of the kind donations from my housemates.)

I want to help Grayson get an education by paying for his school fees at Northern Hill Primary School but given I’m still a student, I’m asking for help with this current year’s fees. Once I (hopefully) graduate and get a job next year, I can take over the cost moving forward.

I was so lucky to get such a quality education coming from a very fortunate family in a beautiful country. Grayson was not dealt these same cards and I want to give him a chance to help build himself and his community up. I feel that education is the best way to do this and that we owe it to Grayson to try and give back to someone in a situation not as fortunate as our own.

For one year, school fees cost less than $700 AUD. This includes food, clothing, stationary and other associated fees.

All funds raised will go to paying school fees and any remaining will go to ensuring Grayson has food security for the year.

I know times are tough back home, especially after some wild weather, but a little bit of money really does go a long way over here. We would be very grateful. Just skip this week’s Sportsbet donations.
