Help GrassRoots plant the seeds of our next projects!
GrassRoots is a Brooklyn-based company founded on the vision of half theatre, half dispensary– a place where audiences can engage with exciting new works, enjoy cannabis, and build community.
We believe in the healing and bonding power of theatre. GrassRoots will use our platform to uplift underrepresented communities, make theatre accessible to all, and create new works in order to give power to the next generation of artists.
While cannabis legalization expands, 40,000+ Americans remain incarcerated for cannabis. Over our past two events, we crowdsourced $1,488 in donations to the Last Prisoner Project– which fights to release those incarcerated as a result of cannabis criminalization. We recognize that as we freely participate in the cannabis industry, it is crucial to work towards dismantling the prison-industrial complex.
We are thrilled to start producing staged works. The show we have in store for February, Islands Never Say, is a devised, movement-based piece developed by Jueun Kang. We ask for your contribution to sustain our mission and help fund this upcoming project!
Your donation will go towards:
- Space rental for performances/events
- Payment for artists working in our company
- Design resources (set, costumes, lights, sound, props)
- Advertising/social media promotions to widen our community base
- Domain costs for a website
- Printing costs for our quarterly zine
