What grows in a community garden? Lots of things. Healthy food. Beauty. A shared sense of purpose that can transform a neighborhood and a community.Grassroots Gardens of WNY
creates and supports urban greenspaces in Buffalo and Niagara Falls. We empower gardeners from 30 cultural backgrounds to cultivate more than 150 different fruits and vegetables on more than 300,000 square feet (and growing)
of previously unused space.
We’ve got big plans for 2017, including the purchase of four community gardens for long-term conservation, and expanding our work in Niagara Falls. To accomplish our mission completely and efficiently we need to purchase our first pickup truck. Not the actual truck in the photo - but that's what we imagine it will look like every Spring, full of materials for distribution to our gardens!
Whether picking up from donors or delivering to our community gardeners, we often find ourselves in need of a truck to move soil, lumber, tools, and plants. We've made it by so far on favors from friends and rentals, but a reliable work truck will be needed to meet the needs of our growing footprint and more than 100 gardens.
We're dedicating the money raised in this Gofundme campaign to the Grassroots Gardens pickup truck. Please help us continue to meet the needs of our growing network of neighborhood gardeners. We'll reward every donor with some Grassroots Gardens swag as a token of our appreciation after the close of the campaign and your generosity will lead to meaningful growth for our community and its people!
