As we step into unprecedented times, I'd like to provide this outlet to our customers, family, friends and the amazing city of Ferndale Michigan (downtown ferndale) to show their appreciation and generosity to The Grasshopper Underground employees and give them your best wishes, encouraging support and donations.
We have a staff of over 10 people and are looking for ways to help them get through this difficult time. Many of our staff live paycheck to paycheck and are dependent on tips to make ends meet. Some staff members have student loan debt, rent, medical bills, transportation expenses, child care, and much more. For most of the staff, Grasshopper is the only source of income and with the limited hours (weekends) as well as income heavily based on tips, unemployment checks will be next to nothing if anything. As a company we will get through this but our hearts break for the employees.
At this time we have not received any direction from local, state, or national government on when we will be able to reopen. We recognize that many are facing financial struggles of their own in the wake of this crisis but any and all donations help and are greatly appreciated. If you don't have the funds to donate (as many don't) please do not feel bad, but for the financially fortunate and stable people it would be greatly appreciated.
We are coming up with other creative ways to help this cause from live streams at the venue, selling grasshopper merchandise and much more. Any donation of $30 or more will receive a free complementary Grasshopper Underground t-shirt mailed directly to your doorstep (email us with your name, home address and shirt size). When government officials grant us permission to reopen or if we achieve our goal, the Grasshopper COVID-19 employee relief account will be discontinued.
Please be assured 100% of donations will go directly and evenly to our Grasshopper Underground employees. Nothing will go to the owner or for any other purpose. This fund is completely for them to make it through this difficult time. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, and thank you for your consideration.
