Sam's Super Samwiches, Graphos Family

Donation protected
Greetings Homewood neighbors, community and downtown Homewood business owners,

I have been neighbors in Homewood with the Graphos family, Sue, Sammy, Suzanne and Ted, for almost 30 years. I have lived next door to them and have for most of my time in Homewood. I have also been neighbors on 18th street where we both own business' in downtown Homewood. I consider the Graphos family not only friends but a part of our family. As many of you may know, Sammy passed away October 5th, 2021 from complications with his heart and kidneys. Sammy was a hard worker, dedicated family man and great supporter of our Homewood community. His business was one of the great loves of his life second only to Sue, his wife of over 50 years. He got up at 4:30 in the morning every day (I know this because his car was outside my bedroom window and I could hear his car start daily) to get his restaurant ready for business. He gave free hotdogs to neighborhood children who would walk down to say hello. He treated every customer, no matter where they came from, the same way. Sammy was one of the most generous people I have ever known. Sam's Super Samwich's was an iconic place for the Homewood community to gather. Shoulder to shoulder for 50 years people of all walks of life were welcome in his restaurant. It didn't matter if you were a banker or a brick layer, you were served hot dogs with love. The last 18 months of Sammy's life were met with great struggle. His daughter Suzanne was hospitalized with Covid in December of 2020 and is still being taken care of by the family at their home in Homewood as she recovers. After Sammy's death, I heard there had been an electrical problem at his restaurant and Sue and the family were unable to open the business that they rely on for income. I also learned that their lease would soon be up and they were going to have to relocate and to do so would be very expensive. Please help me with this Go Fund Me, to help with their interim expenses and expenses associated with the relocation of their restaurant. The last 18 months have been very difficult for the Graphos family and any little bit will help in this effort. Sammy, Sue and the family have been so good and generous to Homewood over the last 50 years and now in their time of need, I hope we can come together and give back to them.

Thank you all for your consideration and generosity. Please feel free to comment on any memories you have on this wonderful Homewood establishment and what Sammy and his restaurant meant to you!
