Grant’s Student Loans

Donation protected
For my Birthday this year, I am raising funds to help pay off Grant’s student loans.
It’s my Birthday week, normally I would choose a charity like the Chron’s and Colitis foundation , and PLEASE still do donate to them if you can and choose to do so. But if you would like to give me a birthday gift, a contribution to help with Grant’s student loans would be much appreciated.

This past summer we started talking about what we were gonna do for my big Birthday this year. I will be 50 on Thursday 2/22. I had lots of ideas running through my head and everyone of them included Grant (and Forest too). Now I really don’t want to cerebrate at all. I’m doing my best to go through the motions and to keep life as “normal” as can be, but it’s hard to do so with a broken heart. So. Very. Hard.

Our beautiful son Grant died tragically and unexpectedly on September 7, 2023 from a pulmonary embolism.
Grant had so much love to give and life to live.
We are all heart broken.
Grant graduated from VCU in the Spring of 2021 during the midst of the pandimic. It took him almost a year to find his first career job, but hard work and perseverance landed him a great start with a great company in RVA. Grant had just celebrated his 1 year anniversary 3 days before the awful day.
During that year, Grant worked hard and was chipping away at his (absurdly ridiculous) student loans and we were helping as much as we could.
Thankfully, Grant’s government loans are in the process of being discharged.
Unfortunately, we are one of those families that don’t make enough to pay for college, but make too much to get the help that is really needed. We had to take out personal loans through Langley Federal Credit Union to help pay for college, where we were his co-signers. That means that when Grant died, we inherited his student loan debt. We have begged and pleaded for them to discharge these loans, but it is written in the contract that in the case of death the loan becomes the responsibility of the co-signer. As if losing our child has not been painful enough.

So if you want to give me a birthday gift this year, for my BIG FIVE-OH, a contribution towards his/our student loans would be greatly appreciated.

I am not expecting to get anywhere near the ever growing pay off amount, but every dollar helps.

Some might think this is a tacky ask ( David does), just scroll by if you do.
Give if you want to, don’t if you don’t or can’t.
I am not judging anyone who doesn’t give, I promise. I am just grateful to those who do.

We have been supported so much this past year and people have giving so much already…time, money, cards, flowers, meals, listening ears ect.
We LOVE you all and are eternally thankful. ❤️
