May 6th 2025 Grant went in for a tumor removal surgery under the impression that the mass was a benign neurofibroma, after the surgery his surgeon came out to tell his mom and girlfriend that the tumor was cancerous without a doubt and most likely a sarcoma. Two weeks after surgery Grant was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, he had a malignant peripheral nerve sheathe sarcoma - a cancer that makes up only 3% of sarcomas and less than 1% of all cancers.
After meeting with countless oncologists and even traveling out of town to find the most confident medical team, Grant’s family met a surgeon from University of Chicago. Unfortunately after she reviewed his most recent scans, there was no surgical or treatment option that would save his arm.
July 2nd 2025 Grant underwent a 6.5 hour transhumeral amputation on his right and dominant arm as well as a nerve reconstruction to give him the best chance of a myoelectric prosthetic. Despite every fear and uncertainty placed in his path, he’s faced each day with unwavering strength, optimism, and courage.
Now with medical bills, a prosthetic ordered, months of physical therapy, continuous recurring scans, and other medical and daily costs, Grant’s loved ones are looking for donations to alleviate any financial stressors. Funds raised will go toward medical expenses, adaptive equipment, and everyday living costs. Grant’s family is deeply grateful for every donation, share and kind word.
