Grant's heart is filled to bursting!

Hello!

My name is Grant, and I discovered just recently that I have had a bicuspid aortic valve since birth.

We were always told it was a benign murmur, so instead of being able to be prepared for the procedure and get it taken care of at an appropriate time, I found out when I started having symptoms of heart failure and decided to go in to Urgent Care to get checked out, thinking I was overreacting.

Instead, I was told I wasn't going home!

My valve had narrowed to the point where very little blood was getting through!

I was sent to the ER, then onto Main Cedars Sinai, where they did a CT scan and found that the backed up blood had created an aneurysm in my ascending aorta, meaning that the non-invasive surgery with a 1-3 day recovery time had turned into open heart surgery with a much longer recovery time!

I need to go on short term leave from work which only pays a portion of my actual salary, so things are going to be very tight!

Recovery will be a difficult road, and some friends have asked about ways they can help and suggested I start this as a way to relieve financial stress while I focus on recovery!
