Imagine you are 30 years old about to have
your 6th open heart surgery for a condition
you’ve had since birth. Your biggest concern isn’t if the surgery will be successful it’s...the
financial impact of having the surgery. Many of us know our healthcare system is far from
perfect but few of us have had to ponder these circumstances. Although if you’re reading this, you’re probably closer to this scenario than
you think.

Grant... you know the guy who shows up with a smile on his face, ready to help you with
anything you need, and with a laugh that you
can hear down the hall and even out of the
building. Yes, that Grant, our friend, who will mow your lawn if you’re out of town, watch
your dog, or even come sit with you after a
terrible breakup but would never ask for
anything in return. The bottom line is he shows up and now it’s our turn to show up for him.

Grant’s procedure isn’t just scary, it’s
expensive. Our hope is to ease some of Grant’s financial worry to allow him to focus on his
recovery.

While we are all feeling the impacts of what
has been a year for the history books, doing something for someone else can be extremely
rewarding, and help remind us just how good
humanity can be. What may feel like a drop in
