Grant’s life changed dramatically on September 30, 2023 when a falling accident left him without the use of his arms and legs. In an instant his active and independent life has changed.

He is currently at Kaiser Spinal and Neurological Center in Vallejo California in rigorous rehab to restore the use of his body, arms and legs. Though he remains hopeful and determined for recovery, it will be a long road. The doctors are saying, “a marathon, not a sprint”.

What that means for him in the immediate future is adapting the basics of daily living to his new normal. The home he shares with his wife Brenda and their teenage sons will require major modifications to accommodate a wheelchair. Additionally, they will need to purchase a handicap accessible vehicle which will cost anywhere from $80,000-$100,000. We know other unexpected expenses will be coming, but these two are the most immediate and necessary.

About Grant……
He is a lifelong resident of Lodi California living his life in service to the community he so loves.

• Worked 22 years for Lodi Parks and Recreation.
• Physical Education and Math Teacher at St. Peter Lutheran School
• Lover of all things sports and working with youth.
Active Sports Officiant – Baseball, basketball, volleyball
Baseball Coach
• Lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, serves as an Elder
• Husband to Brenda, and Dad to 3 boys

Grant is known as a light in his community. He always has a quick joke or witty comment and a warm smile to greet people. He loves to cook and often shares his culinary creations with others, especially his aging parents. He has a generous heart and gives freely from what he has; physically, spiritually, and monetarily. He is the first to volunteer when a need is identified.

That is why this Go Fund Me campaign has been established. Grant and Brenda need our light and resources now. Grant’s hope and goal are to return to his life of coaching, motivating and inspiring in the Lodi community. By the grace of God, the staff knowledge and skills at Kaiser Vallejo and Grant’s own grit and determination, that goal will become reality.
