We are reaching out with a goal of supporting Grant in his recovery by raising some funds to cover one month of his apartment rent.
Grant has faced more than his share of medical challenges with remarkable strength and determination. As many of you know, in the past, he successfully underwent a liver transplant and bravely fought and survived lymphoma — battles that showed us all just how resilient he truly is. He has had to manage many smaller health issues, including arthritis, a serious liver abscess, and an AV malformation, to name a few.
Grant's kidneys suffered from all of the medications and treatments that were needed to keep him alive and healthy. For the past three years, he has been on dialysis three times each week while continuing to work as much as his body would allow. Despite the challenges of Kidney Disease and the side effects of dialysis, he has pushed forward with quiet courage and a positive spirit.
While this transplant brings so much hope, the recovery period will require Grant to be off work for approximately 3 months, if all goes well. He will have hospital appointments 2-3 times per week for the next few months to monitor his new kidney and overall health. Unfortunately, his sick time has already been used due to the side effects of dialysis treatments and various medical appointments.
Grant has been so appreciative of all the outpouring of messages of support and kindness as he prepared for his kidney transplant. He is not one to ask for help. He has continued working full-time throughout his dialysis treatments and has put away some money to help cover expenses while off work. We know the next few months will be challenging for him. People have been asking us how they can help. To help take away some of his financial concerns while off work, we have set the goal of raising enough money to cover his rent for a month.
Any contribution — no matter the size — will go directly toward supporting Grant during his transplant recovery.
Most of all, we ask for your positive thoughts and prayers as he prepares for this next chapter.
