Grant DeHoogh’s Memorial Bench

Janet DeHoogh has a big birthday coming up in August. (60!!!) As a surprise for her birthday we would like to honor my brother, Grant DeHoogh, by raising funds (on GoFundMe) to put in a memorial bench in his honor in the hometown neighborhood of North Richland Hills, TX. Grant was raised in this neighborhood and my parents have been part of this community for many years. Grant passed away 2 years ago and we would like to give my mom and our family a place to go and remember him in the future.

My parents, Jeff and Janet, eventually plan to relocate to Stillwater, Oklahoma. This memorial bench will be a special place they (along with family and friends) can go to take time and honor Grant. Grant spent many summers riding his bike and catching frogs and turtles in Walker Creek before hometown grew to the size it is today.

My mom continues to do so much for the community and we look forward to surprising her with this for her upcoming birthday. (We thank you for not saying anything directly to her). We will update everyone once the plans and location of the bench are finalized.

Thank you to all of you who have supported Janet and I over the years, raising our children in this neighborhood and this wonderful city of NRH. We are grateful for your prayers and support as we’ve navigated the loss of our son Grant and the ensuing grief.

Our daughter Lauren is a blessing and has done a really wonderful thing here to memorialize Grant in his home town. We are grateful for your donations for this effort. We have ordered the bench and are working with the city on location. This is where we want it placed, on the North West side of Walkers Creek “pond” where Grant inscribed his name in the freshly poured concrete many years ago.
