Hello there!

My name is T.B. Connell and I am an aspiring playwright from East Anglia currently writing/producing/directing my first original play that is set to be put on in Lincolnshire this summer.

The play is a Samuel Beckett inspired dramedy named 'Grandpa with a Jetpack: The Arial Ballad of Grandfather Knickerbocker', which follows an old man and his attempts to build a Jetpack and thus leave a legacy for himself. The play centers around his two grandchildren, one who lived with him and one who had no clue of his existence, and how they cope with never truly knowing the man who left them behind in persuit of greatness. I am hoping to touch on themes of grief, legacy, family and general absurdity.

I am asking for funding due to the dire state of my universities creative arts program's funding. Recently the university has cut many of the MA courses and combined the scattered pieces into the 'Creative Arts' MA, which covers a mish-mash of Dance, Theatre, Animation, Music and Fine Art rather than funding each of these courses individually. As a result of this, we have not been allocated budgets for our final projects and due to a recent change of my employment status it is looking unlikely that I'll be able to finish this to the standard I wish to on my lonesome.
