This fundraiser is being done by Neil Lange's family to help with expenses for his current medical care.
You wouldn’t know it, but our parents have been through their share of challenges these last few years. Their biggest obstacle will *hopefully* be in the near future. Mama Rand recently fought and kicked breast cancer’s ass, followed by major back surgery. She of course didn’t want anyone to know or want to ask for any help throughout her battles with this.
Grandpa Neil has recently been diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this disease. He has officially been accepted to be listed for a lung transplant and has been having his pre-evaluation at Nebraska Medicine for the last few months. We hope he is blessed with the gift of new lungs and that this brings him relief from the terrible symptoms he is currently experiencing.
We know this will not be an easy road, and he will have a lifelong recovery. We want to help Grandma and Grandpa with some of their financial burdens to enable them to stay focused on keeping up his strength and medical care/appointments. During this time he has been let go from his employer and their bills are starting to add up. These expenses will continue long after his possible surgery. His continual need for oxygen will be traded for a lifetime of expensive anti-rejection and immunosuppression medications.
Anyone that knows Grandpa knows he loves chasing around his naughty grandkids, winning money at the casino, and grilling the whole family delicious meat. Watching him not be able to enjoy these things is incredibly heartbreaking. His breathing has become increasingly difficult, as his lungs are working around 38% of normally functioning lungs, and he is currently requiring continuous oxygen.
We appreciate anyone considering donating to this fundraiser. It means the world to Grandpa and his family. Your generosity and support for our family will not go without an enormous amount of love and thanks.
We will make sure to post updates as he moves forward in this rollercoaster of a process!
