Grandpa Lee’s Cancer Care Fund

Hi, my name is Kylee, and I'm reaching out with a hopeful request for my dad, Lee. He was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago, and the medical bills are mounting. We're asking for your support so he can focus on healing, not finances.

Lee is a bookworm who can read five novels at once, a lover of art, music, food, and wine. He's a man of perseverance, wit, and wisdom. For the first few years of my life, he was a single dad. Our bond is built on dinner-table debates, laughter, and late-night music binges.

Lee is also a proud new grandpa. My daughter, Fionna, is just a year and a half old, but she lights him up in a way I’ve never seen before. She looks just like him, and he asks about her every chance he gets. Watching them together reminds me exactly what we’re fighting for, more moments and more memories.

Earlier this year, he felt a tumor that quickly grew, stretching from his neck into his ear and throat. He underwent a 4.5-hour surgery to remove it, but his fight continues. Radiation and Chemotherapy are set to begin and will continue well into next year. Even after insurance, the medical bills from this surgery alone exceeded $1,000, and the costs of ongoing treatments, medications, and scans continue to grow.

To make matters harder, he lost his job just before surgery. Now, he and my stepmom are relying on her single paycheck to cover his treatment, their rent, bills, car payments, and his vital diabetes medications. He's always been a hard worker, someone who poured his energy into caring for others, and it’s incredibly difficult for him to be the one in need.

Yet, he remains himself, full of spirit, humor, and resilience. Even from his hospital bed, he flashed a peace sign and a smile after surgery.

Growing up in the desert, our lives have always been surrounded by rocks. But I've been lucky enough to be raised by the sturdiest one: my dad. He has been my rock since day one, and now it’s our turn to support him.
