A few of us know him as Dave, some Lucas and most as Grampa Dave. There was no one else like him. He was a legend.
He taught us all many lessons just by being himself. He showed us how life should be lived. How to laugh the kind of laugh you feel in your entire body. How to bring your creative vision to life and turn it into a home. How to make friends and treat them like family.
He shared these lessons with everyone he met on his adventures around the world. We will all forever cherish the memories and wisdom he left us with.
As the world mourns the loss of incredible soul, his family is faced with the difficult realty of living on different continents, trying to arrange his cremation in Iceland and finalize the details of his estate in Ottawa (Mountain).
The cost of cremation in Iceland is $3,500 Euro which is $5,200 Canadian. A flight for Dave's daughter Meaghen to travel to Iceland and then home to Ottawa will cost more than $3,000. This does not include her family (husband, son and daughter) to join her - which if possible, would be very comforting to her in this difficult time. Not to mention the other costs to come up along the way ...
