Grandmother who fell victim to grandparent scam

Hi everybody. I started a go fund me page for someone close to me who fell victim to the grandparent scam losing $14,000 in elora Ontario. The scammer called pretending to be one of her grandsons, saying that he was in a lot of trouble and was in jail for drug charges and needed $14’000 to release him. Like most grandparents, they will do pretty much anything for their grandchildren, she went through with it. There were times when she thought this is a little strange but ultimately ended up paying in cash $14’000 to a young adult who picked the money up from her doorstep. This grandmother is 70 years old and is still working a labour intensive job and isn’t one who can afford losing that amount of money. She doesn’t want people to know who she because she is embarrassed she fell for such a scam. So I’m asking the great people of our community to come together and help her recover at least a portion of the money lost.
